ABOUT Me

Hi, I'm Hina Kurono! I am a current UCSB undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Mathematics.

Why this Topic?

I was diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) at the age of 10 right after my mother was diagnosed with the same condition. Because it is a rare genetic disorder, many are not aware of this condition and sadly pass away due to late stage colon cancer. To spread awareness and convince people to get proper advised screening done, I created projects based on FAP.

In addition, I am very much interested in the medical research field as I continue my studies at UCSB, and wish to continue learning more.
